A major highway in Israel was closed after wildfires engulfed it with flames and smoke forcing drivers and passengers to abandon their vehicles. Extreme heat and winds have helped spread the fire, forcing the evacuation of several villages.

A Palestinian child was injured on Wednesday when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire at him in Jenin, north of the West Bank.
