In one of Gaza’s popular markets, Abu Ahmad stands in front of a vegetable stall, visibly unsettled. He hands the vendor a 20-shekel banknote, but the seller pulls back, saying, “I can’t take it, the note is torn.” Then he adds with a bitter smile, “Even if I did, who would accept it from me later?”
