Kyiv, Ukraine – Thread-thin, glistening in the sun and kilometres long, optical fibres wind through the branches of trees on the frontlines of eastern Ukraine.
The cords were – sometimes still are – attached to Russian drones, making them immune to radio-electronic jamming.
