Warnings are mounting about the threat of a “mass death” that looms over more than 100,000 children in the Gaza Strip, which is witnessing one of the worst malnutrition crises in modern times. Infant deaths are becoming increasingly frequent due to the ongoing Israeli blockade and the prevention of effective entry of humanitarian and food aid, aid that could allow UN agencies to mitigate the catastrophic loss of life.
