In a city besieged by fire from every direction, the people of Gaza hear nothing but the sound of explosions and the whistle of missiles. This time, however, it was not just the bombing and destruction; even the phones and the internet their last thread connecting them to the outside world were suddenly cut off, leaving them in complete isolation.
“We are screaming into the void,” said one resident, trying in vain to turn on his phone, which has had no signal for days….
