The provincial head of disaster management, Ehsanullah Ehsan, says they cannot ‘predict’ the number of bodies trapped under the rubble.

Rescuers are trying to reach remote areas in Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar region after a devastating earthquake killed 900 people and injured 3,000, according to a Taliban official, and flattened villages and buildings.

The death toll is likely to rise.
