Israel Approves $1.5 Billion Plan to Boost Tank and Armored Vehicle Production Amid Gaza Offensive

The Israeli government on Wednesday approved a $1.5 billion plan to increase production of “Merkava” tanks and armored personnel carriers, as the military prepares for an expanded campaign in Gaza, Hebrew media reported.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant had previously proposed boosting production of “Merkava” tanks and armored personnel carriers of the “Namer” and “Eitan” models, with costs exceeding 5 billion shekels (around $1.47 billion)….
