‘Khartoum is free,’ Sudan’s Burhan declares from presidential palace as RSF retreats

Sudan’s military leader, Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, made a landmark return to the presidential palace in Khartoum on Wednesday, only hours after the army regained control of the area and recaptured the city’s airport. In a turning point in the war, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have wrested near-complete control of Sudan’s capital city from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Wednesday.
